Tie-Fighter – Star Wars / Limited Edition Revell No. 06051 scale 1:65 – 2017

Welcome to assembly and painting of my Tie-fighter. I bought this kit during my last trip to Berlin, in Mario’s Modellbaustudio (Spandauer Damm 49, 14059). It’s a nice shop full of old models, mostly planes, tanks and ships; a must if you happen to be in Berlin.

There is a video of the unboxing of the model, so if you are interested, just go to the appropriate section.

The model is 15,6 cm long and it’s quite nice. The sprues are ok and there is not bleeding on the parts. The original color is something greysh.

prprI startes, as usual, in washing the parts in sopay water to remove the oils and have a better adhesion for the paint. Then I filed all the parts and painted them in light grey as a primer. I used the primer from AMMO, that is easier for me to buy in Bucharest.

I started painting all the dark parts, like the windows section and the inside of the cockpit. I started to paint the pilot too, however I found that it was made with a different plastic that was soft and the paint was coming off easily. More important, the pilot was too big for the cockpit and i had to cut all the lower part to make it fit.

I started the masking on the wings and painted all the hull of the proper grey (I used hellgrau, lightly lighter than the proposed one).

the opposite side was simpler since it was all the frame glued on the black, so no need to mask

For the windows I used the masking liquid from Vallejo (Liquid Mask) and proceeded with the painting of the frame. Here you can see the result

At this point basically everything was done. I sprayed with clear gloss and applied some weathering on all the model.

And this is the finished model. The stand is not so sturdy and it let the model oscillate a bit. I suggest to add some styrene bars to the sides in order to make it more stable.

Hope you enjoied
