Klingon Bird of Prey AMT No. 1400M scale 1:350

Hi guys. Welcome to the building of the Klingon Bird of Prey AMT No. 1400M scale 1:350. This is a new model issued in 2023, let’s see what i managed to do.

There is a video of the unboxing of the model, so if you are interested, just go to the appropriate section.

First of all you can see all the parts. The sprues are already green but clearly my intention is to paint it completely. My idea is not to put lights inside, though this could be possible due to some clear parts in the back and maybe just adding few holes here and there. However they are never shown with lots of lights so i decided not to go on with that.

I just suggest before any painting to rinse all the parts with soap and water. This eliminates all the traces of silicone oil used for the creation of the parts. I suggest to try to assemble the parts first in order to discover some weakness in advance. For example i had to put a rod inside one of the parts of the hull because it was deformed and the parts were not fitting together. You can see some phases of the pre-assembly. i tend generally to assemble all the parts that can be assembled before the painting (if of the same color, to avoid to lose time and color.

You can see all the guns mounted, and some sections of the hull pre.assembled.

Now the parts are all painted. I applied a coat of black primer and after I used the Aerograph to paint all light greed. Probably I could have used a darker one but at the end there will be additional details in different greens.

Note that I applied some filler to cover the holes in the front hull and on the guns, there was a huge separation between the parts.

Then I started to paint all the parts with different shades of green. Note that the lower part of the wings has red markings (on the supposed feathers). The rear part was tricky and I left it semi-transparent at the end with a lot of work to keep the white spots very precise. The deflector in the front took me a lot of time too in order to be able to have the grid and the red parts well separated.

At the same time I coated all the parts with a gloss transparent color and applied the few markings available on the wings.

I mounted the Bird of Prey in attack position, so with wings lowered. I proceeded to color the grey-metallic sections of the wings and glue them to the wings.

Now you can see better all the details and the coloration with different tones of green. I used some dark green, some lime green and red.

After that I just applied some weathering using a dark green oil color and mineral oil and and let it dry. After everything was dried I applied again a coat of matt transparent varnish to compete the model.

See the result in the next pictures.

Hope that you liked it.
